Benin City, Edo State – January 31, 2024 – Senator (Barr) Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District, today expressed concern over the lack of capital project allocation to his constituency by the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs. In a statement, Senator Imasuen highlighted the disparity in project distribution despite Edo South being the sole oil-producing region within the state.
Senator (Barr) Neda Imasuen noted that it is deeply concerning and unacceptable that Edo South has been completely overlooked in the allocation of capital projects by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
On January 25th, Senator Imasuen sent a formal letter to the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Development, Engr Abubakar Momoh, demanding answers for this injustice. He emphasized the unfairness of Edo South shouldering the burden of oil production while receiving no benefits in terms of development projects.
"I am pleased that the Minister responded promptly and assured me of the Ministry's commitment to transparency and accountability," Senator Imasuen noted. "He has also agreed to meet with me soon to discuss this issue further and seek a mutually beneficial solution. I hope this meeting will lead to concrete action and a more equitable distribution of resources."
Senator Imasuen reiterated his unwavering commitment to advocating for the people of Edo South and ensuring their fair share of development projects. He vowed to keep his constituents updated on his discussions with the Minister and share any further developments.
